Yasmin is a visual artist who finds inspiration in her Central Asian and Post-Soviet backgrounds. Her work is an expression of a deep fascination with her ancestors’ stories. She collects elements from throughout their history, from ornaments to textiles to anecdotes. Through art, she wishes to process and share the collective generational trauma, the beauty in the resilience of constant change, a celebration of the victories and pitfalls of Central Asian people. From tea merchants on the Silk Road to the wool felt traders during the Imperial Russian, to the rise and subsequent fall of the USSR, to independence - all of these elements play an important part in her painted, wearable and performance works.

Yasmin holds a BFA from Savannah College of Art & Design.
She is currently based in Hong Kong.
